2026 Toyota RAV4 HEV Now Available on KINTO ONE in Japan
The all-new sixth-generation 2026 Toyota RAV4 has officially launched in Japan on December 17, 2025, and is now available through the KINTO ONE car subscription service in Japan. This marks the first full model change for the RAV4 in Japan since 2019.
A Hybrid-Only Lineup for Japan
Unlike its predecessor which offered multiple powertrain options, the new RAV4 in Japan launches exclusively with a 2.5-liter hybrid (HEV) powertrain — reflecting Toyota's accelerated commitment to electrification in the Japanese market. A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant is expected to follow in March 2026.
The hybrid system delivers improved fuel efficiency and driving performance compared to the outgoing model, while maintaining the RAV4's reputation as a versatile and capable SUV.

What's New in the 2026 RAV4
Design

The sixth-generation RAV4 adopts Toyota's latest design language with a bolder, more angular exterior. Key design changes include a wider stance, sharp LED headlamps, and a redesigned grille. The interior features a larger touchscreen display and upgraded materials throughout.
Technology and Safety
The new RAV4 comes equipped with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite as standard across all grades in Japan, including:
- Pre-Collision System with improved pedestrian and cyclist detection
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with stop-and-go functionality
- Lane Departure Alert with steering assist
- Automatic High Beam
KINTO FACTORY Upgrades
Owners of the new RAV4 in Japan can further enhance their vehicle through UPGRADE SELECTIONS by KINTO FACTORY, which will offer genuine upgrade items available for online purchase around spring 2026. These upgrades allow RAV4 owners to customize and improve their vehicle's functionality even after delivery.
Available Through KINTO ONE in Japan
KINTO offers the 2026 RAV4 HEV through its KINTO ONE subscription service in Japan, where all costs — including insurance, automobile tax, maintenance, and vehicle inspection — are bundled into a single monthly fee. This subscription model removes the complexity of traditional car ownership and makes the new RAV4 accessible to a wider range of Japanese customers.
With the RAV4 experiencing high demand in Japan and delivery wait times extending for traditional purchases, the KINTO subscription provides an alternative path to getting behind the wheel of the new model.
