[Software Engineer (Backend)] FACTORY Business Support Group — Tokyo

Role Overview
The FACTORY Business Support Group develops backend systems that support the operations of TOYOTA UPGRADE FACTORY — a service enabling customers to add genuine Toyota and Lexus options to their vehicles post-purchase. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will build the systems that power dealer workflows, order management, and operations support.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend APIs and business logic for FACTORY operational systems
- Build integrations with dealer management and logistics systems
- Write and maintain automated tests; ensure high code quality
- Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and business operations
- Monitor and improve system reliability and performance
Requirements
- 3+ years of backend software engineering experience
- Proficiency in one or more of: Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, Node.js
- Experience with REST API design and development
- Familiarity with relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL)
- Experience deploying on AWS
- Business-level Japanese
Nice to Have
- Experience with order management, dealer management, or ERP systems
- Knowledge of event-driven or batch processing patterns
- English communication skills
