[Backend Engineer] my route Development Group — Tokyo

Role Overview

my route is a MaaS (Mobility as a Service) app that integrates multiple transport options — trains, buses, taxis, and car sharing — into a single seamless journey planner. As a Backend Engineer on this team, you will design and build the APIs and services that power the app for users across Japan.


Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs (REST / GraphQL)
  • Build scalable microservices on AWS
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers, designers, and product managers
  • Participate in code reviews and improve engineering quality
  • Monitor and improve system performance and reliability
  • Contribute to technical roadmap discussions

Requirements

  • 3+ years of backend development experience
  • Proficiency in one or more of: Go, Python, Node.js, Java, Kotlin
  • Experience with RESTful API design
  • Familiarity with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Experience deploying on AWS or similar cloud platforms
  • Business-level Japanese

Nice to Have

  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes or container-based deployments
  • Interest in MaaS, transportation, or mobility technology
  • English communication skills
